COPEing with Challenging Behaviour

10-week group for parents of children ages 7-11 living in Peel Region. This weekly group will be offered on Thursdays beginning September 17^th (runs from Sept 17 – Nov 19, 2020).

Learn skills to increase positive behaviour, avoid conflicts, encourage cooperation and respond to aggression. Parents will watch videos, talk about common concerns and share their ideas with each other.

Parents of children 7 – 11 years of age will find this group helpful for developing effective parenting skills.

Circle of Security

8-week group for parents of children ages 0-8 living in Peel Region. This weekly group will be offered on Fridays beginning September 18th (runs Sept 18 – Nov 6, 2020).

This training will help you:

Feeling Good About Being You: A Group for Moms

8-week group for moms of children ages 0-17 living in Peel Region. This weekly group will be offered on Mondays beginning September 21st (runs from Sep 21 to Nov 16, 2020).

This group will help moms who are isolated and stressed connect with others, learn about themselves and learn how to manage their stressful lives. Moms will learn how to recognize and appreciate their strengths; how to practice self-care; how to access community resources to support them; and improve their stress management skills.

Parenting Your Anxious Child

2 consecutive weeks (Thursdays, Oct 1st & 8th, 2020).

This two-part psychoeducational workshop will provide parents/caregivers with an opportunity to educate themselves on the following topics:

• What is anxiety?
• What does anxiety look like?
• Avoidance
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
• Tools for communication

Parents will also discuss helpful and unhelpful parenting strategies for anxious children, relaxation strategies and the principles of exposure.

6-week group for parents of children ages 6-12 living in Peel Region. This weekly group will be offered on Wednesdays starting November 4th (Nov 4th – Dec 9th, 2020).

Learn more about ADD/ADHD, including helpful parenting strategies, the role of medication, how to access resources and how to work collaboratively with the school system.

Parents of children 6 to 12 years of age with an ADHD diagnosis will find this group helpful.

From Challenges to Triumphs

2 consecutive weeks – Thursday, January 14th and Thursday, January 21st.

Caregivers will be provided with opportunities to discuss parenting challenges and strategies aimed to help them develop new skills, and to help them feel more confident when addressing difficult situations with children. Although the strategies can be used with children of all ages, the program is aimed to support caregivers with children between the ages of 4 – 10.

Topics discussed include: Strengthening Relationships and Positive Attending, Encouraging Cooperation by Reducing Conflict, Problem-Solving, and Using Incentives to Motivate Cooperation and Consequences (time-in versus time-out).
